■ Plant-based & allergy-friendly food, Vegeka for you

 

Hi! I am Mikihiro Morishima. I am the owner of Los Angeles in Kanazawa in Ootemachi, Kanazawa-city, Ishikawa in Japan. Our menu is 100% plant- based, and most of the items are gluten-free (or gluten-free option.)

 

 

Vegeka Burger (using Vegeka vegan patty) and pastries like gluten-free muffins, of which we always have more than 6 varieties, are very popular among not only vegans and vegetarians but also patrons who are not vegan or vegetarian as healthy food. Since Vegeka does not contain egg, dairy, or wheat, it is perfect for allergy-friendly food.

 

We just started shipping for anywhere all over Japan so that you could enjoy our vegan products Vegeka anywhere in Japan!

 

 

■ The very first story of Vegeka ~ overcoming the Great East Japan Earthquake ~

 

I used to be a salesperson of Iwaki Daruma in Iwaki-city, Fukushima.

On March 11^th, 2011 the Great East Japan Earthquake took my job, newly built house away completely. And I had no choice but to evacuated to Ishikawa with my two children.

 

On March 11^th, 2014, which is three years after that day, I started Café Los Angeles in Kanazawa in Ootemachi, Kanazawa.

 

 

The reason why I named “Los Angeles” is that my twin brother owns a vegan restaurant in Los Angeles in the U.S. and he helped me a lot after the earthquake.

 

I also started the Group of Eleven to have a location for victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake to gather and support each other. The members and I often talked about the importance of food safety and security and the freedom of choice there.

Also, I was often asked if the Cafe has gluten-free and/or allergy-friendly food and pastries by patrons whose children have food allergies.

After a few years, I gradually want to pursue the importance of food safety and security as a person who engages in food industries.

 

A wish that I want to answer the patrons’ requests and another wish of the food safety for children made Vegeka.

 

 

 

 

■ The top-rated item created through trial and error

 

I had collected information about food from all over the world, done researches, and succeeded in creating cakes that do not contain the major 27 allergic materials in 2017.

 

 

And in 2019, I made a recipe of the 100% plant-based veggie patty using local Kaga vegetables.

 

By using thick and sticky Kaga lotus root, we can add more vegetables instead of adding flours for combining. The texture is very juicy and meaty, while at the same time, you taste flavors of vegetables.

 

 

Vegans and vegetarians left great reviews saying that “the patty is a different texture than other imitation meat made of soy and is so unique!” This is now our signature item.

 

We also made recipes of muffins, tiramisu, and cookies after that.

 

 

 

 

■ Great reviews from all over the world

 

Since there are few restaurants that value the freedom of choice and/or the importance of what you eat, many of those who came to our Café had searched online and found us.

We are a top-rated vegan restaurant/Cafe in Kanazawa and received great reviews on HappyCow (the world’s largest website for vegans and vegetarians.)

 

I believe that vegan-friendly restaurants will be needed more than now in inbound businesses as well in the future.

 

 

■ About the Cloudfunding ~ from Kanazawa to all across Japan ~

 

We want as many people as possible to enjoy Vegeka that is already very popular among people who had before… that is why we started shipping and wholesale business.

 

However, at this moment, it is difficult to produce enough products for both shipping and wholesale as we only have a limited number of ovens.

 

To resolve this situation, I am planning to expand our factory and install new ovens so that we will be able to produce nearly sixfold more products, but we are short of funds due to the COVID-19, unfortunately. So, we need your help.

 

If we could expand the factory and install new ovens, you would be able to enjoy not only Vegeka patty but also other allergy-friendly items anywhere in Japan. If we could do that, we would be able to wholesale those items to hotels, grocery stores, and restaurants, which means it would be much easier for you to have Vegeka items.

 

Not only in Kanazawa but also all across Japan, there should be many people who…

have severe allergies,

 

have children who have allergies,

are interested in vegan but have a hard time getting vegan food nearby.

 

I would be more than happy if Vegeka could do good for those people.
