私が地元を離れて思うこと

今日は地元宍喰出身の方からメッセージを頂きましたので、そのご紹介をさせて頂きます。

地元を出て18年経ちますが、家族の心配事やお願いごと、遠くに旅立つ友人を見送る前や、ここぞ！という時の神頼みは、いつも地元の祇園さん。 宍喰に生まれ育った私にとってあるのが当たり前の場所。帰る場所があるのは嬉しいことです。

 

I moved away 18 years ago, but when I have worries about my family or hopes for my friends who have moved far away, this is where I pray. When I have deep worries or wishes, I always return here to pray to god at Gion-san, this shrine.

It was natural for me, who was born and raised in Shishikui, to feel close to Gion-san. Coming here feels like returning home.

 

 

毎年初詣は、実家に帰り家族と一緒に祇園さんに行くことにしています。 大晦日午前0時前に、祇園さんを廻り、お寺の除夜の鐘をついて新年を迎えます。

 

Every year, I return to my parents' house and go to Gion-san with my family.

Before midnight on New Year's Eve, we go to Gion and greet the New Year with the ringing of the bell in the shrine.

 

 

すがすがしい空気に一年の始まりを感じ、心がひきしまります。 わたしの経験上ですが、祇園さんでおみくじを引くと不思議と「大吉」がよく出る気がして、縁起が良いので毎年の恒例行事としています。

 

The refreshing air makes me feel the beginning of the year and my heart is full. In my experience, when I draw a fortune-telling slip called “Omikuji” at Gion-san, I feel that I always get a good fortune. It means a lot to me, so visits to Gion are an annual tradition.

 

 

夏の行事「祇園祭り」では多くの露店が連なり、だんじりや、花火が上がり、大人たちは大宴会。宍喰で一番盛り上がる大イベントです。

 

At the summer Gion festival, many food stalls are lined up, “Danjiri" floats are pulled, fireworks fill the sky, and adults have a big feast. This is the biggest event in Shishikui.

 

 

子供の頃は祇園さんの前や、だんじりで太鼓を叩いていました。今思えば貴重な体験をさせて頂きました。

 

When I was a kid, I used to play drums in front of Gion and in the Danjiri parade floats. When I think about it now, I had a these memories are very special to me.

 

 

年をとるごとに年々、故郷が懐かしく恋しくなります。 久しぶりに、祇園祭りの日には実家に帰って、友人や親戚の方とわいわい乾杯でもしたいですね。 宍喰の皆に親しまれてきた神社。変らずこれからも、ずっとそこに在り続けてほしいです。

 

As I get older, I miss my hometown more every year. I want to go home and have a toast with my friends and relatives on the day of Gion Matsuri for the first time in a long time. A shrine that has been loved by everyone in Shishikui. I want you to stay with us forever.
