バングラデシュに農業革命を！最高の教育を農家たちにも届けよう

こんにちは！マヒンです。バングラデシュでプロジェクトに本腰を入れ始めてから半月が立ちました。今あらためて、このプロジェクトの必要性を感じているところです。

人を育てるプロジェクトが
バングラデシュには必要なんだ

今一度、説明させてください。e-Farmingは映像授業を用いて農業従事者を育成するプロジェクトです。これは単に「農業用地の開拓」を目的としているのではありません。島に住む農業従事者、数千人が、マーケットへアクセスをできるようにするため。そして彼らが汗水たらして収穫した農作物を適正な価格で販売するための取り組みです。

どう、実現するか。どう、生産性を高めていくのか。答えは「人」です。人の育成です。これは、島に暮らす貧しい人々に永続的かつ直接的な利益をもたらす、バングラデシュの潜在的なニーズに応えるプロジェクトなのです。

e-Farmingプロジェクト。まず、貧しい農業従事の生産性を高めるためにトレーニングを提供しています。さらに、農業従事者が適正価格で農作物を売ることができるような支援も行っています。

なぜ、そんな支援を、僕が

バングラデシュには何千もの浮島があります。僕は毎年その島に住む何千人もの人々が河川の浸食に苦しんでいるのを見てきました。島に住む人々は、そんな河川から魚を獲り、島の土地の開墾し農作物を育てながら生計を立てています。生き残るためには、川の浸食で常に苦しみながらも絶えなくちゃいけない。

さらに僕には、最近になって分かったことがあります。島に住む人々は、政府が提供している公共サービスを受けることができていないということ。

「マイヤーシャア」 （中央の島）はバングラデシュの僕の出身地、チャンドプル地区ハムチャー村にある島の一つです。ここでは自然災害が多発しています。でも、だからこそ、土地は肥えているんです。いろんな作物が育てられる、そんな可能性にあふれています。ただ、生産方法が非効率的なのです。農水省の担当官は、僕にこんなことを話しました。

「この島の土は非常に肥沃だ。農業従事者が適切な訓練を得れば、生産が現時点よりも3倍以上になるだろう。ただ…、我々政府には非常に多くの制限があるため、彼らへの訓練を保証することはできない。」

政府ができないなら、だれがやるんだ？
僕は幸いなことに、日本に留学することもできている。僕なら、できると思う。いや、やらなきゃいけないと思ったんです。

僕は2010年にe-Educationプロジェクト（映像授業のプロジェクト）を立ち上げました。今では映像授業を動かすには十分な、20人の仲間がいます。このチームで人材を確保し、島に住む農業従事者へトレーニングプログラムを提供することを考えています。

先日農林水省の担当官と、現地の農業従事者とミーティングをしました。長い議論でした。僕たちがいくつかのトレーニングセッションを録画することを決定し、やっと、e-Farmingプロジェクトとしてスタートしたのです。現在はすでに何百もの農家がこのプロジェクトに参加し、そのニーズに基づいたトレーニングを受けています。

農家と市場の架け橋に

このトレーニングに参加している農業従事者たちは、トレーニングを受けるだけでなく、いろんな情報を得ることができます。さらに、農作物を適正価格で売るために、農業従事者とマーケットの間に入り橋渡しを試みています。

現状では、島から一番近い市場でも10マイル以上。市場まで行くのにボートで40〜50タカの費用がかかります。そんな大金をかけて売りにいくにも関わらず、時にはとても安い価格になってしまうこともしばしば。

適正価格で取引できるように。僕と僕の仲間たちが、島に住む農民と市場の間に立ち、架け橋になる！これは、島に住む人々がより良い生活を送るために、僕たちができる精一杯の取り組みです。

e-Farming  is determines to help thousands of island farmers for cultivating their land as well as getting the proper access in market to get actual price. It is a potential project in Bangladesh which is benefiting poor island people for increasing production through building human resource.  It provides necessary training to the poor farmars for increasing their production. Besides, it helps the farmers to get the actual value of their crop. In Bangladesh there are thousands of islands and every year thousands of people suffer from river erosion and join with island people.  Island people are leading their life through catching fish from river and cultivating their island land. They are always struggling with river erosion for surviving in the world. They are not getting public services which are providing by government. They have little access in school, colleges and health care services. “Majer Char” (middle island)  is one of the island under Haimchar upazilla of Chandpur district in Bangladesh. Natural calamities are occurring there every time. There are huge fertile land to cultivate and probability to produce many kinds of crop there. People are cultivating their land and producing crop very inefficiently. According to agriculture officer, “this island is highly fertile; if the farmers get proper training on cultivation, production would be three times more than present time. But our government cannot ensure their training because of so many limitations”. On the basis of that “BacBon Foundation” consults with agriculture officer as well as farmers of that char thinking to provide their training to ensure human resources as well as ensure their proper production. After a long discussion and consultation “BacBon Foundation” came into conclusion and decided to record some training session and shows them through electronic medium naming as e-Farming project. Hundreds of farmers are taking part in this project and getting training on their necessity. They are getting training from it as well as getting necessary information for production. Besides this project will help to make a bridge between farmers and market to get the proper price of their production. Because it has seen that farmers are selling their crops in the nearest market which is more than 10 miles away from their island. They are used to go there by boat or small troller which cost more than 40-50 taka. Sometimes they sell their product in cheaper price and lose their hope to produce further. This project determines to build a bridge between farmers and market. So that they could get actual price of their crops. It will helps them to lead better life in island (charland).
