Project description in English [英語版概要]

Hopes to Publish a Nepali Best Seller, Already Translated Into Four Languages!

Meditation and Permaculture: Fascinating Nepal

Hello. My name is Yaqin Nirdosh / Yuya Sato, and I am the implementer of this project.
The goal of this project is to be able to publish the Japanese translation of the Nepali best seller, “In Wonder With Osho”. Thank you for visiting my webpage.

When you think of Nepal, what image comes to mind? I first went to Nepal about 14 years ago. When I was a student, I frequented a Nepali restaurant near my university in Yotsuya for lunch, and became friendly with the Nepali owner. With my interest piqued, my relationship with this country began after I learned about a meditation center located in Nepal and went to visit it.

At the time, there were many democratic movements and independence movements of minority ethnic groups. Ever since, I have continued to frequently visit Nepal, and have been able to witness the improvement of power outages in recent years, as well as the development of water and gas infrastructure. With day to day life becoming increasingly modern, various communities in Nepal have also started working towards living alongside nature by practicing permaculture (the designing of a sustainable agricultural life).

With meditation being deeply rooted in Nepal as a way of living, the Osho Tapoban Meditation Center on the outskirts of Kathmandu has become so popular that, not only is it frequented by politicians and celebrities, but it is also used for police training.

In addition to hiking tours of the Himalaya, they also offer pilgrimage tours to sacred places, such as Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, Hindu temples, as well as the Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries that accepted those exiled from Tibet.

Meeting Bodhisattva Swami Anand Arun

I visited the Osho Tapoban Meditation Center during my first visit to Nepal, and every visit since. Located about an one to two hour car ride away from the capital, Kathmandu, the meditation center is located in the middle of the Nagarjuna forest.

It was 14 years ago, at that meditation center, that I met the author of the book I hope to publish, “In Wonder With Osho”, as well as the founder of the meditation center, Swami Anand Arun.

Swami Anand Arun is the first Nepali disciple of Osho, an Indian Mystic, also referred to as the modern day Buddha, who ventured to create the Osho meditation center under direct orders from Osho.

Bodhisattva Swami Anand Arun

I, too, acquainted myself with meditation and became a disciple of Osho, under the name Nirdosh Yaqin. At the time, I was able to enjoy conversations with Swami Arun, as there were very few residents in Tapoban.

Today, Tapoban has become a facility not only visited by meditators of Nepal, but by meditators worldwide. In order to participate in the meditation camps located in America, Canada, Russia, and Australia, Swami Arun spends six months of the year working abroad.

A Nepali Best Seller, Read Across the Globe

Which brings us to the novel I’d like to introduce, “In Wonder With Osho”, written by Swami Arun. The novel, originally written in Nepali, has been translated into English, Hindi, Chinese and Russian, and has become a favorite around the world.

Indicated by the title, “In Wonder With Osho” is an autobiography written by Swami Arun, a seeker, that documents the final teachings of Osho. The detailed and dramatic novel, sometimes adventurous and sometimes romantic, follows a series of mysterious episodes that begin after a fateful encounter, the multiple tribulations and subsequent transformations, as well as the events that occurred during the ten plus years before the meditation center was created.

What you hold in your hands is a love story for which I have risked my all. It is a poem of my life long affair with my beloved. It is the memoir of my romance with the man who not only dreamt but materialized paradise on earth. If these stories sound otherworldly to you, they are otherworldly!

-    Excerpt from the “In Wonder With Osho” Foreword.

The story begins when Swami Arun and Osho met during the spring of 1969 and documents the day to day events that unfolded until May of 1981. The sequel, which documents the events from 1981 to the present, was released last year in Nepal. (The English version is yet to be published).

A Bridge Between Nepal and Japan♪
Bringing Nepal’s Meditation Movement to Japan!

Largely speaking, there are two reasons why I decided to work on getting the Japanese version of “In Wonder With Osho” published, via this crowdfunding project.

The first is from my desire to bring this pure meditation movement, that is currently spreading across Nepal, to Japan. Although, recently, the word “meditation” has become popular in Japan, to the point of being featured in magazines, I argue that the quality of meditation currently being offered in Japan is a combination of good and bad.

Where Nepal’s beloved Shivapuri Baba spent his later years. Also frequented by Swami Arun.

In Nepal, Osho, who is said to be the biggest spiritual leader of the 20th century, designed a meditation practice for modern people, based on the simple and honest character of the Nepali and their custom of devotion towards those that are sacred, and it continues to spread vigorously. There are over 70 meditation centers, both large and small, throughout Nepal.

The second is from my desire to introduce the charm of Nepal, a country with high spirituality, rich nature, and a relaxed and peaceful lifestyle. And, to offer the opportunity to travel to Nepal and meditate together.

Boudha Stupa: Nepal's largest Tibetan Buddhist stupa

It has been 14 years since I discovered Nepal. With all my might, I hope to be able to serve as a bridge between Nepal and Japan.
