About Kyushu Korean Junior High School

 

Kyushu Korean Junior High School celebrated its 65th anniversary on April 10, 2021.

 

 

In order to develop human resources who will be "independent and work-ready" with the establishment of Korean identity of "who you are, what you are aiming for, and what you are trying to achieve" as the biggest pillar of the students. We are enriching the subject education and acquiring the ability to survive in society, and at the same time, we are sending out human resources who can keep Korean society in Japan, which is our roots.

 

 

 

Against COVID-19, we want to promote online lesson.
However, the burden on Korean high schools continues to be heavy.

 

We aim to develop Korean education in the Kyushu-Yamaguchi region, and in order to raise the level of education and produce talented human resources, we have prepared a more fulfilling educational environment, including "ICT education." 

 

So far, we have prepared tablets for each student, installed large monitors in all classrooms and improved the Wi-Fi environment in the school. In addition, in collaboration with Korea University, various projects such as special lectures, study sessions, and open campuses are held online to provide new learning opportunities.

 

Furthermore, we are working on promoting ICT in education, we will create a special ICT classroom in order to transform the educational content into "new learning".

 

It was difficult to interact with other areas due to COVID-19. On the other hand, we could interact with Korean schools all over the country and create a wonderful classroom where the classroom and the classroom became one. We also want to give it to our students.

 

However, the environment surrounding Korean high school remains harsh.

 

In Japan, the "high school tuition free program" started in April 2010, but Korean high schools were excluded from the program. In recent years, our school has promoted the introduction of ICT in education, but due to the exclusion from the "high school tuition free program", parents bear the cost of ICT teaching materials.

 

Therefore, since 2013, we have been conducting a "high school tuition free program" trial on the grounds that only Korean high school was excluded from the program. But the Supreme Court defeated our appeal on May 27, 2021. Please see the following video for the activities so far.

 

 

Due to such circumstances, the burden on the school side and parents still remains heavy.

 

 

 

To create tomorrow for students
We will challenge crowdfunding

 

Our school has been operated without the support of the government, with the burden of parents and donations from graduates. In 2021, which marked the 65th anniversary of its founding, various events to support schools were refrained from and restricted during COVID-19, and the financial business was also affected by it.

 

Therefore, we decided to take on this challenge because we wanted to raise funds in the form of crowdfunding so that we could manage to renew the classroom and also have the opportunity to expand the circle of support for Korean schools in addition to raising funds. We will renew the computer classroom in order to create the latest ICT special classroom with the support money received from everyone.

 

We call the school that provides Korean education "우리 학교(Uri Hakkyo)" in Korean. “Uri Hakkyo” means “our school” in English. "Uri" in "Uri Hakkyo" is "us" in Japanese. "Us" is pronounced as "us" in English. And if "us" is written in kanji to represent tomorrow, it will be "Tomorrow".

 

With our hands, let's make the "tomorrow" of the students who will bear the future into a brilliant "tomorrow" without discrimination. With that in mind, we named this project "우리 Project". For even more fulfilling learning in the renewed classroom. I would like to work with you to create a classroom that creates "tomorrow."
 

 

Making the ICT special classroom will be implemented as a renewal of the computer room. We will renew the environment where students can work on collaborative learning and active learning. The entire wall will become a large screen, and we will install an ultra-single focus type high-spec projector and try online exchange lessons with the classrooms of other schools.

 

Renewal work will begin in February 2022, and the classroom completed in April 2022 will be unveiled.
 

 

 

 

Greetings from the representative

 

This time, as part of the project to commemorate the 65th anniversary of our school, we decided to take on the challenge of crowdfunding.

 

Since its establishment in 1956, our school, Kyushu Korean Junior High School, has played an important role in the Korean education of Koreans living in Japan in the Kyushu region. Our school regards the school as a place where Korean people can truly unite, and we carry out Korean education across nationalities such as Korea, South Korea, and Japan. We are also committed to improving the quality of education by working closely with local residents.

 

Our graduates are highly internationally conscious and ambitious, and contribute greatly to the international community. All the faculty and staff are confident that the students will surely be the bridge that connects Asia and the world in the future.

 

Many friends, including graduates, are supporting the school in various ways during the Corona disaster. I hope that this challenge will open up a new circle of support and give many people an opportunity to learn about Korean schools.

 

Let's create a "classroom" that depicts a bright future together!
