What is KODOMO SHOKUDO- Children’s Cafeteria

 

Kodomo Shokudo- Children's cafeterias are places where children can receive free or inexpensive nutritious meals.

 

It provides children who have difficulty eating together with their families with the opportunity to share a meal together.

 

In addition to being a "place for children to eat," the cafeteria is also a place where families who come home late from work and do not have time to do chores can get together and have a meal together.

 

In this way, the restaurant functions as a "place where many people gather" and as a place of communication for local residents.

 

As of 2022, there will be 7,363 children's cafeterias nationwide, an increase of approximately 23 times in six years from 319 in 2016.

In Gunma Prefecture, there are 56 organizations registered with the "Kodomo Shokudo Network Gunma. (As of July 2023).

 

This is still a small number compared to the national average, but the number is steadily increasing.

 

However, as the number of children's cafeterias increases, problems and challenges are also becoming apparent. One of the major problems is that it is difficult for eligible children and families to come. This is due to the fact that the government and local communities are not fully aware of all family situations. In other cases, the existence of the children's cafeteria itself is not recognized.

The biggest challenge is to secure continuous operating expenses. Without funding for food and facility maintenance, long-term operation is difficult, and there have been cases where children's cafeterias have closed after only four months of operation.

 

In the background of these cases, "lack of understanding from the government," "lack of cooperation from schools and educational organizations," and "lack of cooperation from residents" are some of the reasons why funds cannot be secured smoothly.

 

 

 

How we use your support

 

Until now, Gospel Wing Fellowship Choir's concert activities have been funded by ticket sales and members' own expenses. The purpose of this crowdfunding campaign is to raise funds for the following purposes

 

• We would like to receive support for the cost of the concert and donate a portion of the ticket sales to the children's cafeteria.

•  

• To be used to purchase equipment for live performances at various facilities and cafeterias as volunteers

 

Now that the Corona disaster is slightly under control, we are able to host a stage where music can really come into its own. We will use your support carefully so that we can light up the children's future with the power of music as much as we can.

In the event that the event cannot be held due to natural disasters or other unavoidable circumstances (including the effects of coronavirus such as the declaration of a state of emergency) after the project is completed, the funds will be donated directly to "Kodomo Shokudo Network Gunma".
