Muungano cooperative: Women support/ Revenue stabilization

Muungano cooperative, we plan to import on this project, is organized in 2009 and start up the long-term effort with Twin, British farm-oriented buyer.

As contents, 1) assessment of groups, 2) promoting improvement action plans of members with Gender Action Learning Systems, 3) buildup and absorption of an internal control system, 4) potential support like market research of Cafe Femme are included.
 
Changes in the community by these efforts were magnificent and continued internal.  the brought solutions for divisions for gender roles in families, an internal control system with organic and fairtrade authentication by about 5000 farmers, and a protective traceability.
Especially, Cafe Femme is recognized as the meaningful brand only women crop, refine, and control, even though in developing country it seems women have less power. 

In this project, we plan to buy two coffee beans: 1.Coffee with very fruity and powerful flavor and 2. From Cafe Femme. 

The former is produced by “natural process” and only two cooperatives can process in this way yet in Congo. They will make beans by our order and demand originally and the haven’t imported to Japan ever.  Ethiopian coffee is famous as fruity one in the world, but Congo coffee add powerful flavor to fruity one like tropical fruits. 

The latter from Cafe Femme have a special concept for women support. This coffee is produced “washed process” that removes the cherry and mucilage surrounding parchment with water after cropping coffee cherry. Compared with natural process. this one brings blight and deep flavors and they spread out in mouth.

We want you to have interests in coffee in Democratic Republic of the Congo by delivering these to you. And, we hope our projects will bring farmer’s beneficial changes by stable income and motivations for better coffee.
