【60%到達！】Fairweaveでスカーフを作る女性の話

今日は、長年Fairweaveで働いてくれている女性を紹介します。

彼女の名前は、Srey Touch。現在40歳で、4人の子供がいます。（一番歳が下の娘さんが写真右）

彼女は15歳の時に、母親から手織りの技術を学びました。

小学校には5年生までしか通っていません。なぜならば、彼女の両親は、彼らの住む村から学校までが遠く離れており、女の子一人で通わせるのが安全ではないと考えたためでした。

また、昔のカンボジアでは、女の子は母親になり、家事や子育てをするため、高等教育を修了する必要がないと考えられていたため、それも理由の一つかもしれません。

今日、Fairweaveは商品の販売と所得の創出を通して、多くの女性たちに力を与えています。Srey Touchもそのうちの一人です。

彼女の収入と夫の収入を合わせることで、子供達を学校に通わせることができています。

『子どもたちを養い、学校に通わせることができてとても幸せです。子どもたちが望むところまで教育を受けさせてあげられるように、私は全力を尽くします』

と話してくれました。

Let introduce the amazing women whom is working with FAIRWEAVE many years. Her name is  Srey Touch, She is 40 year old and she has 4kids, her youngest daughter is staying behind her in the picture below.

She learned this weaving skill from her Mother when she was 15. She finished her primary school at grade 5 only. Her parents did not support daughter to go to school during her childhood because one reason they thought that it was not safe to send girl to school because in her village it was remote area and the school was far from home. Second, may Cambodian parents in the past thought that girls will end up to be mothers and stay home to take care the kids and do house work so they did not need to finish higher education.

Today, FAIRWEAVE empower many women through trade and income generation. Srey Touch, one of women who has been empowered since 2013. Her income together with her husband salary are able to send her kids to go to school. She said that  I am  happy that I can feed my kids and they are going to school. I will try my best to support them to finish a higher education as they want to be.
