[Message]
It has been 8 years since I started canine hemangiosarcoma research (HSA). I launched this research from scratch without any research fund, but we were successful in publishing seven papers so far. Many aspects of HSA, however, are still unknown, which prevents us from finding novel and effective therapeutics. I would like to advance HSA research to save dogs with HSA, and their owners. To achieve this goal, your support and contribution are needed.

I have been studying HSA research with Dr. Aoshima since I was an undergraduate student. However, we have not yet developed effective drugs for this disease. During this time, many dogs have lost their lives and even more are currently suffering from HSA. I continued on to the PhD program in order to unveil the pathogenesis of HSA and to contribute to development of novel therapeutics. I believe we can save countless lives if we could advance HSA research with your support. We really appreciate your contributions.

[Message]
I often encounter HSA in daily clinical activities. Although symptoms can be temporarily improved by surgery and chemotherapy, patient dogs end up losing their lives because of recurrence or metastasis. It hurts me to say to owners that there is no definitive treatment for their dog’s illness. This research project is achievable only in an animal hospital like ours which has a strong relationship between clinic and research.  I believe this project can improve HSA treatment methods and desperately look forward to its success as a clinician.

[Message]
PDX model created a revolution in clinical research in human medicine. It allows us to predict drug efficacy more precisely than in traditional cell lines. However, compared to human medicine little research has been conducted to investigate the efficacy of anti-cancer drugs in veterinary medicine. In many cases, veterinarians are forced to treat patients based on limited knowledge, meaning little positive results. Canine HSA is one of these kinds of diseases. I often encounter HSA, but most patients could not survive more than half a year after diagnosis. Since there is not enough data for HSA, I hope this project will be successful and cause a revolution in HSA treatment. We really need your support and contributions.
