ENGLISH PROJECT INFORMATION 2⃣
🌏As Global Citizens, WE need to take action for OUR future
The itinerary of International Student Conference consists of Advanced Study Tour, academic exchanges, presentations, sightseeing around West Japan (Main Study Tour), and cultural experiences. (These are described in detail on the website, so please visit it!)
Every year, the International Student Conference runs all programs based on an overall theme that suits international trends and student interests.
Overall Theme of the 66th International Student Conference is...
Global Citizens:Our Action, Our Future
<Details of the Conference>
The 66th International Student Conference will be held according to the following schedule. Every year, many students from all over Japan and around the world apply, so we hope that as many students as possible will be able to participate. Please give your support to us.
※Many events will tend to be canceled due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic that is expanding worldwide. We are currently preparing to hold this conference, but the final decision to hold the conference will be made in early May.
We have been working hard to hold a conference since last October. In case of cancellation of ISC66, we are considering an alternative plan in order to form our ideas and our goal. In the event that ISC is cancelled, postponed, or held on a smaller scale, we will not refund the crowdfunding support. We will gratefully accept it to cover preparation costs that cannot be refunded and/or the cost of holding an alternative conference.

<Message from the President: Namie Kawabata Wilson>
“Where are you from?” It’s an innocent question that people like to ask each other when they first meet, but to me, it’s a question that is difficult to answer. I currently live in Japan but I do not look like a “typical” Japanese, so I get this question a lot. I could just answer, “from the United States” because that is where I was raised, and the person asking the question would have a “satisfactory” answer to the fact that I don’t look like a “typical” Japanese. But it doesn’t tell my whole story. Ever since I have started living in Japanese for university, I have been caught between proving that I, too, am Japanese, and my gut feeling that nationality and looks shouldn’t matter for people to get to know each other- we are all human, and that’s what counts.
In the midst of this, I found that one of my upperclassmen was a part of the organizing committee of ISC, and I became interested. I had always been interested in interacting with people around the world and learning about different cultures. I thought that ISC would be a great opportunity for me to talk to individuals and listen to their thoughts and firsthand experiences. I wanted to learn what I couldn’t learn from just news or media.
ISC was an unforgettable experience. During the nine days, I really did get to speak with people from all over the world. Everyone’s backgrounds were so different, and their stories gave me insights into different lifestyles. However, most importantly, I felt that no matter how different our backgrounds were, we were all human, and we had many similarities. When cooperating with each other, when playing games with each other, our nationalities did not matter. No matter where we were from, we learned from each other, and we had a great time. What mattered was that we were open-minded, we listened to each other, and we overcame our differences. For me, I could really just be me, without having to think about whether I was “Japanese or not.” This lasting experience made me want to give back by participating in ISC once more, this time as a part of the organizing committee. In order to continue to make sure that ISC is a global place where every person is welcome, I decided that this year’s theme would be “Global Citizens: Our Action, Our Future.”
We would love for you to join our project, and we are grateful for any and all contributions. As a student organization, crowdfunding and donations are one of the most important ways that allow us to raise enough money to hold a successful conference every year. Our funding goes to subsidizing participant fees for the conference, issuing visas for international participants, conference rooms and accomodation fees, etc. Please help us out so we can all take the necessary steps to make our world a better place!
ISC provides a valuable experience for all students to learn and grow. Help us give students from around the world to maximize their potential!
We hope that many people will sympathize with our activities and feelings for the conference and support us through crowdfunding. The committee members promise to not let you down in creating a fantastic conference!
Thank you so much for reading this page, and thank you so much for all of your support.
