さて今日は、実行委員会議について紹介させていただきます。

 

　ISC66では今まで5回ほどの実行委員会議、通称「コミ会」を行ってきました。コミ会では、12人で形成される委員会の役職ごとの報告や今後準備すべきことなどについて話し合います。去年10月にISC65の実行委員会から役職を引き継ぎ、任期１年という形で、国際学生会議の運営をしています。実行委員は、東京、大阪、神戸、浜松、別府と、複数の都市から来ていて、コミ会はオンライン以外に東京や熱海で集まってきました。

 

 

 

 

　12月には、伊豆・熱海にて、コミ合宿を行いました。温泉と海鮮丼を楽しみ、暖かいホストに迎えられて、ホステルに一泊しました。2日目は、城ヶ崎で写真撮影をし、午後は熱海駅周辺でお土産を買い、熱海プリンなどの名産物を味わいました。合宿では娯楽だけでなく、活動報告と予定の話し合い、プロモーション動画の撮影などにも取り組み、充実した時間を過ごしました。ここで仲を深めることができ、楽しい思い出として今でも残っています。

 

 

 

　さて、3月となり、新型コロナウィルス感染拡大に伴い、コミ会をオンラインに移動せざるを得なくなりました。3月22日に、1日かけてGoogle Hangouts や Zoom のプラットホームを利用し、分科会を導くテーブルチーフを含めて15人ほどでオンライン会議をしました。4つの時間帯に滞在しているメンバーで、協賛、参加者募集などのトピックや、ウィルス関連の方針について話し合いました。

 

　オンライン会議を経験して思ったことが2つあります。一つ目は、オンラインでは臨場感をあまり感じることはできませんが、お家から参加していることで、なんとなくアットホームな親近感がありました。みなさんの笑顔を画面越しに見て、限られた範囲でも、対面で会う時とは違う側面を見ることができてより親しみを感じました。

 

　2つ目は、時間の大切さをより強く感じたせいか、話し合いを出来るだけ簡潔にまとめる努力をしました。直接会えない不便さを乗り越えるため、大事なことに焦点を絞ったことで、円滑なコミュニケーションをすることができました。こうして、共通の困難の中で助け合ったことが印象的でした。

 

ミーティングの最後は、みんなでハート型を作って画面の写真を撮って盛り上がりました。

 

 

　

 

　新型コロナウィルス蔓延中に会議準備に課せられた私達ですが、一生懸命頑張っています。今後もぜひ見守っていただき、支援していただけると嬉しいです。

Yesterday, we have achieved 20% of our total crowdfunding goal, thanks to all of your support !!

We will continue to work hard on public relations activities in cooperation with the  committee mambers!

 

Today, I will talk about the meetings held by the ISC66 Organizing Committee.

 

The ISC66 committee is composed of 12 people who are in charge of different divisions. The committee was transferred from ISC65 in October and has a term of about one year. Our meetings, also known as “komi-kai” have been held about once a month. Until now, we have assembled about 5 times to talk about preparations for various events under ISC66, such as the Main Conference, the Study Tours, and the Final Forum. Our members come from different cities across Japan: Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, Hamamatsu and Beppu. In the past, we have held meetings online and in venues in Tokyo and Atami.

 

 

 

 

In December, the ISC66 Committee had a retreat in Izu, a few hours south of Tokyo. We spent one night there, enjoying Onsen and traditional seafood dishes in the area. On the second day, we took pictures at the scenic Jogasaki area and walked around Atami station to shop for souvenirs and taste local food. Aside from having fun, we also had productive meetings related to our positions and recorded videos to promote the conference. Overall, our retreat was both fun and productive, and helped us bond as a team.

 

 

 

Due to the coronavirus situation, our March meeting was held online instead of at a physical venue. In this meeting, committee members met on Google Hangouts and Zoom for a whole day, to discuss future activities such as participant applications, crowdfunding and what to do regarding the coronavirus.

 

There are a few things I realized in joining the online meeting. The first is that, ironically, the distance gives a sense of proximity among members. By seeing my teammates' faces online in their houses, I was able to see a side of them that was different and seemingly more relaxed than when we meet in person.

 

Second, we tried to be as efficient in our communication. I think we felt the importance of time more strongly because the meeting was held online. In order to overcome a common hardship, we cooperated by focusing on the important points to lessen inconveniences.
