WE NEED YOUR HELP! for the patients who suffer at abroad

 

Hi, I am Mika Washio, Doctor of Internal Medicine and director at International Health Care Clinic in Tokyo, Japan.

I provide medical services as a General Practitioner to many patients without borders. I also mainly provide International Medical Transportation.

 

Do you know about International Medical Transportation?

International Medical Transport, also called evacuation, is when a doctor and/or nurse(s) escort a patient who may have been injured or have caught a disease to their home country.

 

Through my experience working as a transport doctor for almost 10 years, I realized the lack of legitimate International Medical Transportation services in Japan. I opened up a clinic in September of 2017 to provide a safe and reliable medical transport between Japan and countries overseas.

 

Our clinic would like to obtain your understanding and receive help for patients who need to go back to home to take treatment.

 

 

 

Many patients suffer from injury or disease in outside of their homeland.

It is always better for a patient to stay and receive complete medical treatment completely in a hospital where he/she who is sick or injured can be hospitalized. However, some patients want to receive medical care at home country for different reasons.

Reasons;

1. Financial problems
2. Quality of medical care.
3. Difficulty of communication or treatment because of different language and/or culture.
4. Long-term care needed
   Others

 

Among them some patients find it difficult to go back to their country for treatment because of personal financial issue and the expensive medical service fee (if they don’t have travel insurance).  They also must pay for high amount of International Medical Transportation fee.

 

For example, the fee is around 22,000 USD between Japan to Philippines by commercial flight, and in other care, it is around 200,000 USD between Japan to Florida by air ambulance.

 

Also, number of foreigners who visit to Japan is increasing year by year, and numbers of foreigners who get sick or injured patients in Japan is proportional. Of course, some of them are more severe than others, and they stay and suffer in Japan even if they would like to take treatment in their homelands.

 

I would like to help the foreigner patients to go back to their countries, so I decided to start crowdfunding to make International Medical Transportation more affordable.

 

 

 

 

The crowdfunding will be used for maintenance cost of medical equipment and cost of medical supplies as a part cost of International Medical Transportation.

 

The funding will also be used for the patients who suffer to pay for International Medical Transportation (i.e. no insurance).

Such as,

 

#1 POC, portable oxygen concentrator

We can keep POC, which is permitted the onboard use, for 24 hours by rental.

Then we can move anytime and as soon as possible.

 

#2 Disposable medical supplies

We can maintain disposable stretchers, sheets, and another medical supplies, so that we are able to go anytime to help foreigner patients. We also always think about infections, specially for patients who stay in ICU. We do not bring to another countries and Japan. Which is why we always use disposable medical supplies such as sheets, stretcher cover.

 

When we are successful in the funding, we can organize a system for 24 hours consultation of International Medical Transportation stronger than now.

 

Furthermore, the funding can help provide equipment such as a ventilator which we use occasionally during International Medical Transport.

This project is not only for financing for our clinic’s medical equipment and supplies, but also giving a foreigner patient  a choice to take treatment in their homeland.

After you selected your amount of contribution, please scroll down the page and reach to the interface below.

STEP4: Enter your address 
 

After you enter your credit card information, please scroll down the page and reach to the interface below. 

In this section, please enter your address so that the project members can send you “thank you gift” to you. 

For people who do not reside in Japan, please follow the instruction in red. (The project team will contact you with message for further information about your address to make sure the thank you gift will be delivered to you)
 

 

After entering your address, please click the red button in the bottom right to proceed.
 

 

STEP 5: Confirm your contribution
 

Next, you will see the interface below and you can check the total amount you pledged. 
 

 

If you agree with the amount you pledge, please click the red button in the bottom right to confirm your contribution. 
 

 

STEP6: Write a message to the project
 

Once you confirm your contribution, your donation will be completed and you will see the interface below. 

Please write your message to the project (the message will be listed on the project page) and send the massage by clicking the red button below the blank.
