子どもたちに開かれた保護犬猫の触れ合い譲渡施設、25年越しの改修へ

Dumbo is a lovely toy poodle, not more than 3-4 years old when his owner passed away. Dumbo was run by a car and he wasn’t given medical care at the right time. He was left with a neck paralysis and he could not stand nor walk. However, the vital functions were normal, he could eat and process the food normally, but under continuous supervision. He was always demanding hugs and human contact. With all the medical treatments tried, his condition changed very little, but his quality of life was much improved.

愛らしいトイプードルのダンボちゃんは飼い主さんが亡くなった時は、せいぜい　3，４才、交通事故にあっていましたが、治療はせず、首が傾き立つのも歩くのも不自由でした。でも生活は出来、普通に食事もとれました。いつも抱いて欲しくいつも一緒にいたがりました。治療をしても変わらず、ただシェルターでの生活はよくなりました。

Ewelina recalls:" I met Dumbo at the shelter when I joined Friends of Animals as a volunteer. At the beginning I didn't pay much attention to a small, with difficulty walking little dog. But as time went by, I devoted more and more time to him. Dumbo also began to reciprocate my affection for him. Whenever he saw me he started to bark, and when I was taking him in my arms immediately fell asleep. The decision to adopt him was very difficult. Dumbo was a very sick dog, and I knew that this would never change - he would never walk with me on his own, or greet me at the door when I came home. Despite everything I decided to take the risk and adopt Dumbo. Now, after over 2 years Dumbo is the most important member of our family. Unfortunately, he doesn't walk at all, can't see and needs constant care. Despite this I don't regret my decision. I love him very much and I can't imagine life without him."

メンバーのエヴェリナは想い起しています。

ヴォランテイアとして、フレンズ・オヴ・アニマルズに入って、シェルターにいるダンボに会いました。初めは小さくって、歩くのが下手な子にあまり注意を払わなかったです。でも少しずつダンボに注意を向け、時間が取られるに従い、ダンボも私に応えるようになりました。ダンボは私を見るといつもないてせがんで抱いてあげるとすぐに眠りにおちるようになりました。ダンボを貰うと決めるのは難しい事でした。病気であり決して回復はしません。散歩に連れて行っても決して歩きませんし、ハウスに着いたらドアの所で迎えてくれます。でも、リスクを取っても貰う事にしました。今はもう２年経ちましたが、私たち家族の大切な一員になりました。もうダンボは歩けず、目も見えず、定期的なケアも必要です。でも、ダンボを貰ったと言う決断は、後悔はしていません。私はダンボが大好きでダンボのいない生活は、もう考えられませんから。
