We want to keep “Machi no Engawa (Veranda of Town)”, a place for children, adults, people of any ages to make communication and interaction with each other.

Hi! We are the representatives for the NPO called “Kodomo no Machi (Town for Children)”. The “Machi no Engawa (Veranda of Town)” is a program taking place in a facility located in the Nakashizu Central Street. The program mainly focuses on training children in community development. Children below 18 years old are in charge of planning, organizing and running the program while the adults are there to support them. It has been the place for various events since March of 2002 by supporting and promoting closer relationship and communication among the local residence of all ages. This place is like our second home and also the group members are like a big family.

However, the operation of the Machi no Engawa has faced financial problem. The adults responsible in running the facility had held series of discussions but the problem was not able to be overcome by the NPO itself. Unfortunately, last year a decision was made to sell out the facility in July of 2015. When the children heard about this news they voiced out their wish to keep this facility running because it has been an important place for them. In order to keep the Machi no Engawa running, we have started a project to raise fund to purchase the facility but at the moment we are still short of 2 million yen to reach the target. Could you kindly help us out?
