What is HOPE?

 

Thank you for visiting our site. HOPE International Development Agency (HOPE) is a certified NPO in Japan.

In accordance with our mission, “Helping the Neglected Poor Become Self-Reliant,” we support rural communities in Cambodia, the Philippines, and Ethiopia to become self-reliant so that no one is left behind. 

In Cambodia, in addition to our water projects, we also provide support for education by building schools.
 

 

In 2021, we ran our first crowdfunding campaign. The 3.5 million yen raised exceeded our goal and we built a new school building which became an elementary school in Krawsaing Pnov Village. We are truly thankful for your support.

Aid needed to break the cycle of poverty

 

Extreme poverty is a cycle that is hard to escape. When the poor are overwhelmed in their struggle to survive, there is often little that they can do to break out of the cycle of poverty by themselves.

 

By providing access to clean water and sanitation, micro-finance, and education, our projects holistically counter the factors that perpetuate this cycle and help communities climb out of poverty.

Please help build the elementary school in Krawpeu Peekrom

 

 

We have been constructing school buildings in Pursat Province in Cambodia every year. However, there are still many children who are unable to attend school, and parents who want to provide a place for their children to learn.

 

There are not enough schools to serve these communities to ensure that every child gets an education. 

 

Although COVID-19 infections have stabilized and decreased in Cambodia, the lack of educational facilities remains unchanged.

 

During uncertain times, school classrooms need not only to be sturdy enough to survive the rains and the wind, but they also need to be spacious enough for the children to socialize in a healthy environment with each other. There are several schools that still need to be built or rebuilt.

 

  

Together with our donors, volunteers, interns, and sponsors who have supported our work over the many years, and with new supporters, we would like to hold a crowdfunding campaign to build an elementary school for the community of Krawpeu Peekrom.

 

 

 

Krawpeu Peekrom Elementary School Construction Projec

 

This year, we plan to build an elementary school in Krawpeu Peekrom Village by the spring of 2023 so that the children in this community can receive an elementary school education.

The community will also participate in the construction work. The involvement and participation of the local community in the construction of the school will instill a sense of ownership of the new building, which will sustain the school for many years.

 

The entire project will cost approximately 5.4 million yen to build a reinforced concrete school building with three classrooms. HOPE Japan is partnering with the HOPE Network to fund this project.
Our goal is to raise 1.5 million yen.
 

※ The HOPE Network was founded by HOPE Canada in Vancouver and it has been supporting neglected communities for over 45 years through its partners based across nine countries.

 

 

We need your support to build an elementary school for Krawpeu Peekrom.

 

Through clean water supply and support for schools in Cambodia, more than 15,000 people have so far escaped poverty and are on the path to self-reliance. We would like to continue to support the local communities of Cambodia so that they can sustain themselves and live healthy lives.

 

 

When we ask the children at our project sites what they would like to be in the future, many answer “a schoolteacher!”  To many of them, the only profession to which they aspire to become is a schoolteacher. 

 

Through education, we can broaden our horizons and expand the possibilities for our future.

 

An elementary school will be built in the village of Krawpeu Peekrom, where children can discover and aspire to new dreams. We would be grateful for your help in building such a school.
