こんにちは、東京大学大学院の隈研吾研究室に所属している修士２年の青木真といいます。このプロジェクトは2016年4月からはじめは授業の一環として、それ以降は一部のメンバーでこれまで進めてきました。皆で協力して現地でのリサーチやデザインを行っていくなかで、僕は特に基本設計とクラウドファンディングの準備などを手伝ってきました。

このプロジェクトの敷地であるSt.Martha Estateに住む人々はもともとマニラのスラムに住んでいましたが、国の政策で郊外に移住してきました。この場所には住宅は最低限用意されている一方で、それ以外のインフラはまだまだ十分にあるとは言えず、水や電気も一日のうちに限られた時間しか使うことができません。

さらにもともと近くに住んでいた人たちと離れて暮らしている場合も多く、そうした人は新しいコミュニティを作りづらく、結果として住民同士の助け合いも十分には行われていません。

そのため、僕たちは直接の関係者だけでなく誰でも気軽に立ち寄れるキッチンを設計することで、コミュニティの質を高めこの場所が徐々に良くなっていくきっかけを作りたいと考えています。
