メッセージリレー第5弾 ：中村 航
みなさまこんにちは。去年まで東京大学建築学科の助教を務め、このプロジェクトをずっと担当してきた中村航と申します。
いま、建築のデザインは、これまでにないほど社会に近づいてきています。建物を単体で考える時代は終わり、社会の中で、建物を使う人々と一緒に考えながらつくることが主流です。社会が抱える問題や課題を解決する力がデザインにはある、という期待感が少しづつ共有されてきているとも言えるでしょう。
と同時に、建築のデザインは、世界にも近づいています。建築は常に土地・地域に付随するため、「現地」の方々と私たちの関係性は、その土地が世界のどこであろうとも同様です。「現地」に入り、人々の話に耳を傾け、学びながら、私たちが別の「現地」で学んだことを応用する、そんな、世界中の「現地」をつなぐ関係性が生まれています。
私たちは、世界のいろいろな問題を解決する仕組みをつくれたらよいなと考えています。建物を一つ完成させるのはその小さな一歩にすぎませんが、その取り組みを通じて、世界を少しでもよくする仕組みを提案していきたいと考えています。それが新しい社会貢献の形と言えるかもしれません。
このプロジェクトは、小さいところから、世界を変える大きな意義を持つ一歩です。小さな一歩ですが、小さな成功を積み上げることのみが、未来をつくります。
