DAY21 From the experience 次男の子育てから得られたこと・・全ての経験を糧に

おはようございます！

本日は、みきがお届けします。

 

私は、コーチングの他に、学習塾（学研教室）の運営をしていますが、

先日、保護者様とお話しして、「この教室に通うようになってから、子どもが（前向きになるなど）とっても変わりました！」と言ってくださいました。

 

そのお子さんは成績も安定しているのですが、成績のことよりも、その心の成長が何倍も嬉しいのです。

 

 

ところで、以前からお伝えしている通り、私の次男には自閉スペクトラム症・軽度知的障害・睡眠障害があります。

 

小さい頃は、本当に【大変】という一言では収まらないぐらいの日々を過ごしていました。

 

なかなか寝ない。

 

寝ても1時間おきに起きて授乳。

 

しかも抱っこして廊下を行ったり来たりしないと寝ない。

 

 

赤ちゃんの頃はそんな日々でふらふらになって、しょっちゅう限界を感じては、泣きながら子育てをしていました。

 

ハイハイをする頃は、床に頭を打ちつける行為があり、座布団をひいたりして必死に防御していました。

 

外に出て、ルーティンが崩れたり、こだわり行動がうまくいかなかったりしたら、パニック状態になり、それはそれは大きな声で泣き叫んでました。

 

当時の私は、周りの目ばかり気にしながらも、次男の特性をもっと理解してあげたいという複雑な想いを抱えて過ごしていました。

 

日々、一日一日をどうにかクリアする。そんな子育てをしていました。

 

次男の特性について学び、それらを学校の先生方にお伝えするということをしました。

先生も他の子どもたちも次男自身も全員がWIN-WINになることを探っては提案をしました。

 

その中で、苦しい、やるせない思いをしたことも多々ありました。

 

ですが、伝えるということを諦めたらいけないと考えました。

 

 

大人も子どもも「みんな、スペクトラム上にいる」

発達特性はグラデーションのように違いがあり、発達特性は誰しも何かしらの要素を持っています。

 

次男が、ASDという特性を持っていることから、発達特性について学びながら子育てしてきました。次男のおかげで、旅行会社で磨いた臨機応変な対応力をさらに磨くことができたと感じています。

 

だから、この子はルーティンが大事なんだな　とか

少しこだわりが強いかもしれないな　とか

察知する力が身につき、

 

そこに、自分が民間で学んだ心理学的・脳科学的なアプローチで関わることができたり

保護者さんに提案することができるようになりました。

 

私は、子どもに関わる全ての大人が最低限知っておくべきことは、発達についての基礎知識や心を整える関わり方だと思っています。

それらは、全ての人間関係に応用できるものであり、知っていて損はないからです。

 

ただ、知るだけでは足りないとも思っていて、

その知識を最大限に活かすには、大人自身に心のゆとりがなくてはなりません。

 

 

私たちは、それぞれの子育て経験、小学校現場（外国語の授業）での関わり、また民間としての教育に関わる経験を活かしつつ、今回のニュージーランドの新たな経験を新たに掛け合わせることで、新たなものをどんどん生み出していきたい、そう思っています。

In addition to coaching, I also manage a cram school (Gakken Classroom),

The other day, I talked with a parent who said, “My child has changed so much since she started attending this school(e.g., she has a more positive attitude)!

 

The child's scores of the exams have been good enough, but I am much happier with her emotional growth than with her grades.

 

 

By the way, as I have told you before, my second son is on the autism spectrum, with mild intellectual disability, and sleep disorder.

 

When he was a little boy, I spent so many days that really cannot be summed up in one word.

 

He could not sleep well.

 

Even if he did sleep, he woke up every hour and I had to give him some milk.

 

And I had to carry him back and forth down the hallway to get him to sleep.

 

 

When he was a baby, I was so exhausted from such days that I often felt like I was at my limits, and I actually cried while raising him.

 

When he became able to crawl, he often hit his head on the floor, and I had to put cushions on the floor and did my best to protect him.

 

If we went outside and my second boy’s routine was broken or the particular behavior did not go well, he got in a panic and that was when he cried out loudly.

 

At the time, I spent my time with the mixed feelings of wanting to understand my second son's characteristics better, while worrying about what others might think of us.

 

Day by day, one day at a time, I somehow managed to get through.

That was how I was raising my second boy.

 

I learned about my second son's characteristics and shared them with the teachers at his school.

I suggested things that would be win-win for everyone: the teachers, the other children, and my second son himself.

 

In the process, there were many painful and frustrating experiences.

 

However, I realized that I must not give up on communicating and spread the awareness.

 

 

Everyone is on the spectrum.

 

Developmental characteristics differ like gradations , and everyone has some element of developmental characteristics.(neurodiversity)

 

My second son has ASD, a trait that has helped me learn about developmental traits as I raised him. I feel that my second son has helped me further hone the resourcefulness.

 

So,

when I see every students I can find it's important for some students to have a routine,

some others might be a little obsessive, or something like that.

 

I have acquired the ability to perceive.

 

I am now able to use the psychological and brain science approaches that I learned in the private sector.

Thanks to that, I am now able to make suggestions to parents.

 

I believe that all adults who work with children at least need to know is basic knowledge about development and how to relate to them in a way that prepares their minds.

These are things that can be applied to all relationships, and there is no harm in knowing them.

 

However, I also believe that just knowing is not enough,

In order to make the most of this knowledge, adults themselves must be open-minded.

 

 

We hope to create something new by combining our own experiences of raising children, working in elementary schools (foreign language classes), and being involved in education in the private sector, with the new experiences of New Zealand.
