This time we again feature Fukushima with a report on the Peoples’ Rally for a Nuclear-free Fukushima that was held on March 12 this year, including an interview conducted during the rally with Prof. Koyama, a former member of the sub-committee on the release of ALPS-treated water as well as a report from the lead attorney working on the 311 Children’s Thyroid Cancer Trial which was launched in January this year. We also take a statistical look at the affect of the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster on various aspects of people’s lives.

 

Other issues covered are emerging moves to water down regulations in radioactive waste disposal as the decommissioning business grows and the status of Japan’s plutonium holdings. Our regular Group Introduction this time is the Fukushima 30-Year Project.

 

With the new financial year beginning in Japan and thanks to the strong support for our crowdfunding campaign last autumn,  from the end of this month we will be launching 'NIT updates' between regular editions of NIT. I’ll let you know when they are posted.
