Support kindergarten in Syria and Provide Educational Support for children's future!

 

 

Thank you for reaching out! This is Nakano Takayuki, a representative of “Piece of Syria.” 

 

Since 2016, Piece of Syria has been supporting kindergarten and schools inside Syria without any support from the government or other organizations.

 

 

 

Thanks to your donation ever since 2016. It allows us to protect important places for children to learn and grow. ( For the report and more information please check below →  Report of 2016、Report of 2017、Report of 2018、Report of 2019 in Japanese）

 

10 years ago in Syria, the school enrollment rate was almost 100%. Syria used to be famous for its high level of education. However, starting from March 2011, the war broke out and it destroyed everything, including their education opportunities. At the moment, the rate of education has become lower, and the number of children who cannot read and write has increased rapidly.

 

Despite the fact that  the news about Syria decreased, the issue still exists. 

 

In 2020 spring, the elementary school near the kindergarten we support got an air strike. Fortunately, there were no victims, but the school was closed and the children lost their place to learn.  

 

To support the kindergarten, to accept the students from the air strike school, and to protect the places for students learning, we started this crowdfunding program.  

 

 

 

Due to this COVID-19’s outbreak, there are several issues such as economics and some social problems coming up domestically and internationally. At this moment, we are having some worries for this crowdfunding program. 

 

However, if we stop here, the children won’t go to school again; the teacher won’t have the opportunity to teach children. For us and for them, this crowdfunding program means a lot.

Educational Support by your warm donation!

 

 Thanks to over 200 of you for your yearly donation! Because of you, we could support Syria children’s education. Until now, we have supported 1300 children and 66 teachers in total.

Even though the situation is tough we still can try our best to push children to reach their future and dream. We truly and honestly thank your warm and kind support."    

 

 

 

 

Provide hope and mental healing to our children  

 

This time, our crowdfunding mainly supports local teacher’s pay.

 

Ever since our program started, these teachers have actually been working without any pay. If this situation continues, they may leave for other paid jobs to support their family. If it happens, the school may be closed, and become tough to start it again.  

 

 

 

 

 

“Children are our future, it would be much more painful for me to let them lose their education rather than my hunger. “ This is the comment from our teacher.

 

 

In addition, the northwest part in Syria, the place we support, there are lots of displaced people*. To accept more displaced children to our kindergarten, we decided to increase our classrooms last year.

This year, to accept more 200 students from the school which got the air strikes, we are going to establish the library and mental care activity room. 

 

“My school got an air strike” for these children’s minds, they may hold the trauma to the school.  They may fear school. In our new project, the activity room would have professional mental care staff to provide some workshop with children to let them feel happy at school. 

 

 

< How to use the targeted amount >

17 teachers' annual rewards: 17 x 100 $ x 12 month = 20,400 $ : 224,0000 JPY

Classroom & Library establishment : 300,000 JPY 

Commission for crowdfunding company & Return expenses : 460,000 JPY

 

(The exceeding the target amount will be used for necessary managing cost of kindergarten, such as writing material, fuel, and electricity bills, and winter support (kerosene) 

 

 

＜Schedule＞

December, 2020: Establishment of classroom・ winter support (fuel for stoves)・remittance of fees.

April, 2021: Report・remittance of return expenses・ Report conference.
