100年後も繋ぐカナダと閖上の絆 国際的な復興支援の記録を残したい

私たち立命館大学産業社会学部永野ゼミは、宮城県名取市閖上地区における復興の記録とカナダからの支援の記録を将来に残すための活動費をご支援いただくためにクラウドファンディングに挑戦します！

今年度、私たち永野ゼミは 『カナダの皆様へ支援の感謝を伝えるとともに、復興の記録を将来に伝えること』 を目標としています。

閖上地区では約40年前から日曜・祝日に「ゆりあげ港朝市」が開かれています。震災前、朝市には、新鮮な海産物や地場産品の野菜が勢ぞろいし、大きな賑わいを見せていましたが、2011年3月11日に発生した東日本大震災による津波によって、壊滅的な被害を受けました。 困難な状況の中、多くの皆様からご支援を頂きましたが、カナダの皆様からは復興義援金と木材の支援を頂きました。ゆりあげ港朝市と朝市敷地内に立つメイプル館等は、このときのカナダからの支援によって建設され、朝市は震災前以上の賑わいを見せています。

We, the Nagano Seminar, College of Social Sciences, Ritsumeikan University, are challenging crowdfunding to raise funds for our activities to record the reconstruction of the Yuriage area in Natori City in Miyagi Prefecture and the support from Canada for the future!

This year, the Nagano Seminar's goal is to "convey our gratitude to the people of Canada for their support and to record the reconstruction in the future".The Yuriage Harbor Morning Market has been held in the Yuriage area on Sundays and public holidays for about 40 years. Before the earthquake, the Morning Market was very busy with fresh seafood and locally grown vegetables, but it was devastated by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2011. Many people supported the market under difficult circumstances, and the people of Canada donated money for reconstruction and lumber. The Yuriage Harbor Morning Market and the Maple Pavilion, which stands on the Morning Market grounds, were built with assistance from Canada at that time, and the Morning Market is now even busier than before the earthquake.

 

 

一方で、震災から10年以上経過した現在まで、復興支援や国際交流の記録は十分に残されていません。震災後に移り住んだ新住民は復興の記憶や国際的な支援の事実を理解していないという課題があります。加えて、震災前より閖上地区に住んでた住民の高齢化も加速しています。そこで、地域文脈の再考のきっかけとして、カナダと閖上の間に生まれた感謝の架け橋を100年先の世代にも伝えることが不可欠だと思いました。

 

On the other hand, until now, more than 10 years after the earthquake, there are not enough records of reconstruction assistance and international exchange. New residents who moved to the area after the earthquake do not understand the memories of the reconstruction and the facts of international assistance. In addition, the ageing of the residents who lived in the Yuriage area before the earthquake is accelerating. Therefore, as an opportunity to reconsider the local context, we felt it was essential to pass on the bridge of gratitude that was created between Canada and Yuriage to the generations that will come 100 years from now.

 

今回、永野ゼミで行う活動は、立命館大学内の奨学金や支援金に加え、クラウドファンディングで活動資金を集めることにしました。私達や朝市の関係者の方だけでなく、より多くの皆様からの支援で活動を行うことで、多くの皆様の想いと共に、100年先も続く閖上とカナダのつながりを作り上げていきたいと思ったからです。

 

永野ゼミでは、2019年より、宮城県名取市閖上地区を舞台として、カナダからの支援に感謝を伝える数多くの企画を実現してきました。2021年3月には、閖上地区の企業や組合の方と協力し、『ゆりあげ福興笹かまぼこ』を販売しました。皆様より好評を頂き、カナダへの感謝や、復興を伝える良いきっかけとなりました。また、2023年2月には、閖上とカナダをオンライン上で繋ぎ、閖上地区の方々に震災復興の際の様子や想いをインタビューで伺い、その内容をまとめた動画をカナダと閖上で同時に視聴して頂く「いま繋がろう　閖上とカナダ」というイベントを実施しました。イベントは、カナダ大使館をはじめ多くの方にご好評をいただきました。 

 

Since 2019, the Nagano Seminar has realized a number of projects in the Yuriage area in Natori City in Miyagi Prefecture, to express gratitude for the support from Canada.In March 2021, we collaborated with companies and associations in the Yuriage area to sell 'Yuriage Fukko Sasa Kamaboko'. It was well received by everyone and provided a good opportunity to express our gratitude to Canada and the reconstruction. In February 2023, we connected Yuriage and Canada online through an event called 'Let's connect Yuriage and Canada Now', in which interviews were conducted with people in the Yuriage area about their thoughts and feelings during the reconstruction from the earthquake, and a video of the interviews was shown simultaneously in Canada and in Yuriage. The event was well received by the Embassy of Canada and many others.

 

 

そして、2023年5月には、ゆりあげ港朝市メイプル館10周年イベントの企画にも参画し、チューリップ生花650本を使ったカナダ国旗の製作ならびに、チューリップの花びら染めを施したカナダ・日本の国旗を製作しました。こちらの活動も多くのメディアにも取り上げられました。

 

In May 2023, we participated in the Yuriage Harbor Morning Market Maple Pavilion's 10th anniversary event, producing a Canadian flag using 650 fresh tulips, as well as Canadian and Japanese flags with tulip petals dyed on them. These activities also received a lot of media coverage.

 

 

 

永野ゼミは、大学という研究教育機関だからこそ出来る中長期に渡る支援のカタチを実行しております。閖上地区では2019年から継続的に地域の皆様と協力して活動し、震災や復興、そしてカナダから支援を頂いたことを地域の皆様から直接知ることができました。加えて、大規模私立大学としてのスケールメリットをいかした支援の形（広報活動、教育活動等）を模索できる点に強みがあります。

 

 

 

このプロジェクトを始めたきっかけは、復興支援によって生まれたカナダとの絆を100年後にも残そうと思ったことです。そこに至った理由は、二つあります。

（復興支援の感謝）一つ目は、メイプル館完成から10周年を迎えた2023年、次の100年を見据えて、カナダと閖上の絆をより一層深める企画ができればと思ったからです。カナダ・ブリティッシュコロンビア州政府、アルバータ州政府、カナダ連邦政府天然資源省および木材メーカーであるカナダウッドより経済的支援や物的支援がありました。これらの支援によってゆりあげ港朝市に「メイプル館」と水産棟が建設され、ゆりあげ港朝市は早期に復旧、再開を果たすことができ、閖上地区の復興のシンボルになりました。

（感謝の思いを直接伝えたい）二つ目は、復興支援でお世話になったカナダの皆様に直接お会いして感謝を伝え、記録をすることが重要だと考えたためです。私たちはこの3年でコロナ禍を経験しました。突然、大事な人と会える機会がなくなり、大切な人を失った人もいます。そこで私たちは「直接会って話すこと」「人との思い出を残すこと」の尊さ、大切さを学びました。

 

The impetus for starting this project was the desire to preserve the bond with Canada that were created by the reconstruction assistance, even 100 years later. There are two reasons why we think so.

(Thanks to the reconstruction assistance) The first is that in 2023, the 10th anniversary of the completion of the Maple Pavilion, we wanted to plan a project that would further strengthen the bond between Canada and Yuriage for the next 100 years. Financial and material support was provided by the governments of British Columbia and Alberta, Canada’s Ministry of Natural Resources and lumber manufacturer Canada Wood. With this support, the 'Maple Pavilion' and a fisheries building were constructed at the Yuriage Harbor Morning Market, and the Market was able to quickly recover and reopen, becoming a symbol of the reconstruction of the Yuriage area.

(We wanted to convey our gratitude directly) Secondly, we thought it was important to meet directly with the Canadian people who had helped us with the reconstruction and to express and record our gratitude. We have experienced the COVID-19 pandemic over the past three years. Suddenly, some people have lost loved ones because they no longer have the opportunity to see their loved ones. So we learned the preciousness and importance of meeting and talking to people in person, and of preserving memories of people.

 

・インタビュー活動：リアルな声を一つでも多く拾いたい！復興支援に関わった方々へのインタビュー活動を行うことで、カナダの人々が閖上地区の現状についてどれほど知っているかということや、閖上地区との関係性をどのように認識しているかということを明らかにすることができると考えます。その後、インタビューを基に制作した動画などを活用し、名取市及び閖上地区の人々にも共有したいと考えています。

 ・講演会：リアルな声を届けたい！ゆりあげ港朝市協同組合代表理事の櫻井氏による講演会を行います。講演会では閖上地区の復興の過程や現状を伝えて頂きながら、カナダとの国際交流やゆりあげ港朝市をはじめとした閖上地区の魅力について発信して頂きたいと考えております。 

・全体の目標：アーカイブスの重要性を知ってもらいたい！復興支援活動の手本となる形を創りたいと考えています。今後、確実に発生するであろう未曾有の災害が起こった際も、私たちが実施したインタビューなどの記録をもとに、復興支援に役立つことを目指しています。また人々の想いを記録することは復興や支援があったことを風化させず、100年後もつづくカナダと閖上のつながりを形成していく重要な基礎になると考えます。復興支援に対する感謝の想いを伝えるだけでなく、支援の記録を未来に残すことや、支援をする側と受ける側の交流を深めることの重要性を示したいと考えています。

※やむを得ない事情により、予定通り開催できなかった場合、オンラインにて講演会やインタビュー撮影を行います。

・Interview activities: we want to pick up as many real voices as possible! By conducting interview activities with people involved in reconstruction assistance, we believe that we can clarify how much people in Canada know about the current situation in the Yuriage area and how they perceive their relationship with the Yuriage area. Afterwards, we would like to use the video produced based on the interviews and share it with the people of Natori City and the Yuriage area.

・Lectures: we want to deliver real voices! A lecture will be given by Mr.Sakurai, President of the Yuriage Harbor Morning Market Cooperative. In the lecture, we would like him to share the process of reconstruction and the current situation in the Yuriage area, as well as international exchange with Canada and the attractions of the Yuriage area, including the Yuriage Harbor Morning Market.

・Overall goal: To make people aware of the importance of archives! We want to create a model form of reconstruction assistance activities. We aim to use the interviews and other records we have conducted to help in the reconstruction process, even in the event of unprecedented disasters that will surely occur in the future. We also believe that record people's thoughts and feelings is an important basis for ensuring that the reconstruction and support that took place does not fade away, and that it forms the bond between Canada and Yuriage that will last for another 100 years. In addition to expressing gratitude for the reconstruction assistance, we also want to show the importance of preserving a record of the assistance for the future and deepening exchanges between those providing assistance and those receiving it.
